Mindfulness
I read a great quote once that said;
"Mindfulness can help you accept your past without regret. Handle your present
with confidence, and face your future without fear".
Mindfulness has helped me on my journey. I find it effective for calming me down and reducing
rumination.
A few suggestions that I've read that have helped me be mindful:
Setting a timer on my phone to do mindfulness at a certain time of the day. I've read you
get more benefits if you're regularly being mindful.
To make an effort to be mindful every time I leave the house. Going from indoors to outdoors
there's often lots of small changes that you can be mindful of.
When doing not so interesting chores like dishwashing can be a good opportunity to try out
mindfulness. Just focusing on the dishes, the sounds, feels and look of everything.
Also gardening for me I find it easy to be mindful feeling the plants and being in the current moment.
When going on walks to put the phone / headphones away.
Walking in green spaces - I find easier to see the world around me and be in
current moment when walking through green space such as woods. I was once recommended by
a friend to look up when walking through woods at the trees. That way you get a different view that you're not use to.
Another way that I read is good for practising mindfulness is to do something differently.
I like to walk different ways to destinations. That way it's easier to be mindful as you're not as familiar with the route.
